Hello, I'm Mikaela Foltz, a passionate third-year graphic design student at Fanshawe College, currently based at the main campus. I thrive on transforming ideas, whether from my imagination or others, into tangible, visual creations. My design process starts with a spark of inspiration, evolving through experimentation, research, feedback, and continuous refinement.
I specialize in character creation, logo design, photography, and Photoshop, and I am skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and InDesign. These tools are my creative playground, allowing me to bring concepts to life in innovative ways.
My experience spans with both freelance and academic projects, each providing unique challenges and opportunities for growth and making connections. A standout project was a video I created to promote a magazine I designed. I combined stock footage with original clips I took, which not only allowed me to explore new creative territory but also introduced me to video production, something I had never anticipated diving into. The project was a true learning experience, from capturing footage and securing permissions, to editing the final video and incorporating an AI-generated voiceover. The result was a success, sparking my interest in further exploring video editing and motion design.
Looking ahead, I’m aiming to work with video game companies or design agencies while continuing my freelance journey. I am committed to expanding my skill set in motion design, animation, video editing, and Photoshop. I focus on using colour palettes, composition, and strategy to captivate audiences and convey powerful messages, ensuring every project leaves a lasting impression. My ultimate goal is to create work that not only satisfies clients but also fosters long-term collaboration and partnerships.
